Hyderabad theaters lack Fire Protection!

Movie fans who flock the theaters for entertainment have to understand that they are at risk as 60 per cent of single screen theatres do not have no-objection certificates (NOC) issued by the GHMC’s fire prevention department. Most of the theaters do not get the NOC certificates claiming that there are no mishaps as such.

The State Disaster Response and Fire Services (SDRFS) issues such permissions to Multiplexes and other theatres have to obtain NOC from the GHMC’s fire prevention wing. But Single screen theaters just simply float the rules.

These permissions and the theatre safety measures would cost between Rs 5 lakh to Rs 12 lakh, as single screen theaters are running in losses for several years, theaters are not showing interest. In some cases when GHMC initiates any action on such theaters, they just get away playing fines.
