After the success of the Bollywood film Tere Ishk Mein, Dhanush continues to stay busy with multiple projects. He has completed shooting for Kara and has started pre-production work for his 55th film, which will be directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy.
Following D55, Dhanush has an exciting lineup ahead. This includes a film with Mari Selvaraj, a project with Tamizharasan Pachamuthu, who is known for Lubber Pandhu, and a much-awaited reunion with Vetrimaaran for Vadachennai 2.
Amid this, strong speculation has emerged about the Ilaiyaraaja biopic. The project, which was earlier announced under the direction of Arun Matheswaran, is now said to be restarting.
The film was announced nearly two years ago but was reportedly shelved due to financial reasons. Fresh reports suggest that shooting is expected to begin by 2027.
Recent rumours claimed that Arun Matheswaran had been replaced as director. However, reports have clarified that there has been no change and he will continue to helm the project.
Following this buzz, Dhanush fans have begun celebrating on social media. Many believe that if the Ilaiyaraaja biopic takes off, it will showcase Dhanush’s true pan Indian stardom.
Fans point out that Dhanush already enjoys strong popularity in Telugu and Hindi markets due to the success of Kubera and Tere Ishk Mein. Since Ilaiyaraaja is a legendary name in Indian cinema, a biopic on his life could have massive nationwide reach.
Alongside this, Dhanush also has a biopic on APJ Abdul Kalam in his lineup. Shooting for this film is expected to begin toward the end of 2027.
With two major biopics potentially on the way, fans believe these projects could redefine Dhanush’s career. However, no official updates have been released yet, and it remains to be seen how both films will take shape and perform upon release.
