India’s online ticketing bigger than Hollywood BO!

These days Bollywood trade pundits are talking about such humongous figures which would have seemed to be bloated up figures an year ago. But now the scene has changed. A film like ‘pk’ which discusses serious issues like godmen and God has collected record amount of over Rs.600 crores. And out of these 25% of the domestic collections came from online ticketing.

Reportedly ‘pk’ has collected Rs.102 crores from online ticketing amounting to 17% of the film’s gross and 25% of box-office collections. Which is more than Hollywood online ticketing which accounts for 20% collections and 16% of Chinese box-office collections. In India, the number of internet users are rising day by day.

The internetisation of the consumers have led to such massive collections through online ticketing and in the coming days, it is going to surge up higher and soon we might be hearing Rs.150 crores gross collections. Aamir’s ‘Dhoom 3’ had been the biggest grosser through online ticketing with Rs.47 crores as earnings and it was Aamir’s movie again to beat the record. Fantastic!
