Insane Turnaround At The Indian Box Office

The Indian box office is booming once again, and how! Rajinikanth’s Jailer and Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 are running riot at the box office. Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 started slow but has now picked up pace due to superb word-of-mouth.

The total combined collections at the Indian box office on Friday were around 110 crores. Yesterday, there was a huge jump in the collections of Jailer, Gadar 2, and OMG 2, resulting in the total collection of around 120 crores. Karan Johar’s Rocky Rani Kii Prem Kahani is also doing well in its third weekend.

The Sunday figure is going to touch capacity, and a 130-crore day at the Indian box office cannot be ruled out. The total Fri-Sun collections will be in the range of 350 crores which is an insane turnaround from last year’s Independence Day weekend.

Last year, the disastrous fate of Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan was the darkest phase, especially for Bollywood. Tamil industry was also reeling under flops.

But this year, the box office business is back in a big, big way. Let’s hope this winning streak continues!
