Internet Rife with Fake Memon Execution Pictures

In this time of internet, things happen so fast that we barely have the time to blink. Same was in the case of execution of 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts accused Yakub Memon when even before his burial, pictures of the incident were circulating on social media platforms.

However, a closer look has revealed that these pictures are not actually authentic. They are in fact stills from the Ram Gopal Verma film of 2013 titled ‘The Attacks of 26/11’ which had a scene depicting the hanging of terrorist Ajmal Kasab. The perpetrators of this incident were trying to pass these pictures as those captured from CCTV footage of Memon execution.

Meanwhile, to prevent further such incidents, the Mumbai Police has ordered a prohibition on sharing and circulation of any such images of the execution, last rituals or the procession. Anybody going against this order shall be prosecuted under section 188 of IPC.
