Will Ram Charan Join Irumudi 2?
Ravi Teja’s Irumudi has become the sensational blockbuster of the year, with the film now crossing the Rs. 200 crore gross mark worldwide, according to the makers. At the success meet, the team was asked the obvious question: Is Irumudi 2 on the cards?
The question became more interesting because of Ram Charan. Since he regularly wears the Ayyappa mala, fans had expected him to appear in the Mallepoola Pallaki song. He did not feature in it, but the speculation has now shifted towards a possible sequel with Charan.
Mythri Ravi Shankar gave an open response. He said the decision ultimately depends on director Shiva Nirvana, but if they approach Ram Charan and he agrees, they would be more than happy to have him on board.
However, Shiva Nirvana made it clear that he is not planning a sequel simply because Irumudi has become a blockbuster.
He explained that the original film itself came from a small and organic idea. It began with a man struggling with alcoholism who decides to wear the Ayyappa mala for his daughter. The story then developed around his 41-day deeksha and the experiences that change him.
The director does not want to force a sequel without a strong story. He also recalled how social media speculation about Ram Charan’s cameo in Mallepoola Pallaki became so big that he had to clarify that there was no such appearance.
According to Shiva Nirvana, Irumudi 2 with Ram Charan could be wonderful if it happens naturally. But it cannot be planned just for the sake of extending a successful franchise.
For now, the blockbuster has created huge demand for Irumudi 2, but Shiva Nirvana seems to be in no hurry. If a powerful story comes to him, the sequel could happen. Otherwise, he is ready to move on to his next subject.
