Is Indrakeeladri unsafe?

Andhra Pradesh was startled by the movement of few SIMI terrorists couple of weeks ago like never before. As every one are concerned about the security to the Kanka Durgamma Temple in Vijayawada, security lapses continue to haunt the Indrakeeladri. Firstly, there is no security to check the vehicles reaching the Temple.

The temple’s private security staff do not have basic equipment such as under vehicle search mirrors, which do not cost more than Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 4,000. Any one can easily carry explosives to the parking lot.The temple has a bomb disposal squad lead by four ex-servicemen but they do not have any expertise or experience in bomb disposal.

Tirumala Tiruapti Devasthanams (TTD) always imparted necessary training to its security personnel but there is nothing such sort here. SEcurity Personnel just carry the Metal detectors and some times are also involved in collection of toll from the vehicles. There are serious concerns that are raised and the Endowments department should immediately review the security on the hill.
