Is South heroines fate sealed in B’Town?

Asin, Kajal Agarwal, Tamanna Bhatia, Ileana D’Souza and Shruti Haasan are some of the present day heroines who made it big in South Cinemas first and then went on to pursue their Bollywood dreams. Asin and Kajal are lucky ones to give successful films to Bollywwod. Tamanna is the most unluckiest with three back to back flop movies.

Asin made her Bollywood entry with superhit film ‘Ghajini’ alongside Mr.Perfectionist Aamir Khan and after that she did films with big stars like Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. Despite the fact that all her films were super successful, offers in Hindi movies have become a rarity for her.

Kajal’s two films in Hindi are with big heroes Ajay Devgan (Singham) and Akshay Kumar (Special 26) which were block busters. Still Kajal Agarwal is waiting for big offers. But in the case of Tamanna, her fate proved completely unlucky. After three debacles in a row, one couldn’t expect a miracle happen in her case. The next star heroine who is in Bollywood is Ileana.

Her first film ‘Barfi’ won her a lot of critical acclaim but she did a second heroine character. For next films she chose glamour route totally abandoning performance oriented roles like in ‘Barfi’. Her second with Shahid ‘Phata Poster Nikhla Hero’ was a flop and her third ‘Mai Tera Hero’ was a moderate hit but Ileana totally went unnoticed because of the puny character. Her latest release ‘Happy Ending’ hit theatres this Friday. But many cine critics see nothing rosy for the actress.

The same fate befell pretty actress Shruti Haasan even. Her debut movie was a super flop, next was an experimental movie in which she played a prostitute. The third one, the remake of ‘Nuvvostaanante Nenoddantaanaa?’ in Hindi was a flop totally. Not even one successful Hindi movie in her account. Going by the way the career of the above said South heroines is shaping up in Bollywood, one is left wondering why their fate is sealed this way?
