Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 Ready to Break Allu Arjun’s Record?

Rajinikanth’s most anticipated sequel Jailer 2 directed by Nelson Dilipkumar was released in theatres on October 15th and has gone on a rampage at the box office with positive responses from audiences.

Since the announcement of Jailer 2, many people expected that it would become the first 1000 crore film of Kollywood, considering the sequel hype and the pan-Indian casting.

However, even though Jailer 2 wasn’t able to achieve 1000 crores at the box office due to certain reasons like poor promotions and no release in North Indian multiplexes, it has emerged as the industry hit of Kollywood, with around 800 crores in box office collections.

In almost all territories, Jailer 2 has emerged as the highest-grossing Tamil film of all time. In Kerala, Jailer 2 has collected more than 76 crores and become the highest-grossing other-language film in the state, surpassing Baahubali 2’s record after 8 years.

In this scenario, according to recent reports, Jailer 2’s Kannada dubbed version alone has collected more than 9 crores at the Karnataka box office and with today’s collections, it is all set to become the all time highest-grossing Kannada-dubbed movie by beating Pushpa 2.

After these reports of Jailer 2’s historic box office collections, many Kollywood audiences feel that Sun Pictures, through poor planning, has wasted a potential 1000 crore grosser.

They note that if Jailer 2 had been released in North Indian multiplexes and had a proper release in Canada without any delay in distribution, it would have easily achieved the 1000 crore mark and fulfilled Kollywood’s long-pending dream.

Nevertheless, Rajinikanth fans are celebrating this monstrous run of Jailer 2 and commenting that with these box office figures, Rajinikanth is just flexing his box office pull, proving he is always the number one star of Kollywood.

Still, Jailer 2 will have 3 days of a free theatrical run, as the Diwali releases are hitting the screens only on November 5th. Therefore, it remains to be seen how Jailer 2 is going to perform at the box office in the following days and what number it is going to post in its final run.
