Jailer 2 and Ranabaali North American Box Office Collections
Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 continues its strong run at the North American box office, while Vijay Deverakonda’s Ranabaali has crashed after a weak opening.
Jailer 2 emerged as the top-grossing Indian film in North America on Monday, collecting $248,000. Directed by Nelson, the film has taken its total to $5.43 million and is expected to reach its breakeven target soon.
The Tamil version leads with $4.58 million, followed by the Telugu version at $827,000 and Hindi at $30,000.
In contrast, Ranabaali is heading for a disastrous overseas run. The Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer collected just $35,000 on Monday, taking its North American total to $739,000.
Trade estimates suggest that Ranabaali is heading towards a loss of more than 50% in North America, with its final gross expected to be shockingly low. In a surprising comparison, its projected closing gross is around the premiere collections of Vijay Deverakonda’s last film, Kingdom, which itself was an underperformer.
With Jailer 2 moving towards breakeven, Rajinikanth has proved once again why he is still a force to reckon with overseas, while Vijay Deverakonda has suffered another massive setback in the US market, with Ranabaali turning out to be a disaster.
