600 Cr Blockbuster, But Director Is Jobless

Usually, when a film turns out to be a mega blockbuster at the box office, and especially if it grosses over Rs 600 crore worldwide, the hero and director are bound to gain extreme prospects for subsequent projects. But the exact opposite is happening in the case of Jailer director Nelson Dilipkumar.

Nelson earlier delivered Jailer, which happened to be a mega blockbuster at the box office and went on to reportedly gross over Rs 600 crore worldwide.

However, despite the massive success of the Rajinikanth starrer, Nelson has been nearly jobless for the last year. He has no new project at hand despite being in the peak of his career.

Nelson is a talented filmmaker and he has his trademark “dark comedy” style of filmmaking. But despite possessing this trait, he is struggling to line up a project with a Tamil star. He appears to be waiting for Jailer 2 to happen but this is taking longer than expected.

At one point, there was a talk that Nelson is contemplating scripts for Allu Arjun and Jr NTR as well, but neither materialized later and the director is still with no project at hand.

At a time when even 100 crore directors are super busy, it is strange to see Nelson jobless for over 12 months. This is the issue with not having many stars. In Telugu, there are a half dozen top stars and a handful of potent heroes in the next tier. Perhaps large fleet is missing in Tamil.
