Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s final film Jana Nayagan directed by H Vinoth was originally scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on January 9th. However, due to a delay in obtaining its censorship certificate, it was postponed and there is still no clarity on its updated release date.
Even though Jana Nayagan was shockingly leaked online and its buzz got diluted because of the delay, after Vijay became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu following the unexpected state election results, the film regained its buzz. Now, Kollywood audiences are eagerly awaiting to celebrate Vijay’s one last dance as an actor.
In this scenario, KVN Productions’ founder, Venkat K. Narayana, gave an update about Jana Nayagan’s release during his recent interaction with the press and it is now going viral on social media.
He stated that they are still waiting for the certificate to come from the CBFC, but he is confident that they will get it anytime soon. Furthermore, he mentioned that once they receive it, they will immediately release the film at the earliest.
This update from the producer cleared the rumours surrounding its release. A few weeks ago, speculations suggested that the censorship process had almost reached its final stages and Jana Nayagan would soon receive the certificate, but now it seems the process is still not complete, which is why the makers have not yet shared an update regarding its release.
Meanwhile, this has triggered Vijay’s fans, and they have started to criticise the CBFC board, stating that it seems they are purposely doing this to shelve the most anticipated project in Kollywood. Additionally, some people have grown frustrated with this update because for the past few months, there has been no proper response from the production side or trade experts regarding the censorship certificate; they have only kept stating that it will be cleared soon. However, they suggest that now the producer himself has stated the exact same thing without providing any concrete updates.
Nonetheless, with this positive update from the producer of Jana Nayagan, it remains to be seen when the team will receive the censorship certificate and when the film will finally release in theatres.
