One of the biggest projects currently in production in Indian cinema is Kalki 2. The film stands out for its massive star cast and high budget. The sequel has officially gone on floors and shooting is progressing steadily.
This mythological action epic is now in the filming stage. Reports suggest that Kamal Haasan and Amitabh Bachchan have already joined the shoot. Their presence has added more weight to the project.
Under normal circumstances, a sequel of this scale would create massive hype from day one. The first part collected over ₹1200 crore at the global box office. Such a strong performance usually guarantees huge buzz for the next instalment.
However, that is not the situation at present. There is very little discussion about the film, even on Telugu social media platforms. This silence feels unusual for a sequel to a blockbuster hit.
That said, the project should not be underestimated. Director Naga Ashwin has proven his capability as a filmmaker. While the first part may not have delivered consistent commercial highs or extraordinary storytelling, it had enough elements to attract family audiences.
More importantly, the core aspect of the story is expected to unfold in the second part. The film is currently under production and Nag Ashwin is likely to present his best vision on screen. Early silence does not reflect the true box office potential of Kalki 2.
