
Nag Ashwin recently visited the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, where he interacted with the media and shared an update on the much-awaited sequel to the mythological sci-fi epic, Kalki 2898 AD.
He revealed that the script work for Kalki 2 is progressing well and that he plans to begin shooting by the end of this year. Nag Ashwin also mentioned that Prabhas’ character, Karna, will have more screen time in the sequel.

The second part will primarily focus on the characters of Karna and Ashwatthama, according to his statement.
However, things seem to have taken a turn, as Nag Ashwin appeared to be uncertain about the film’s timeline.

During an event, when asked about the release or shooting schedule for Kalki 2, he responded, “I don’t know about that. Last time, when 3 or 4 planets aligned, we planned to release Kalki 1. Now, when 7 or 8 planets align, we plan to release Kalki 2.”
It seems like he is still unsure about the sequel’s schedule.

In a humorous twist, some Prabhas fans, driven by curiosity, checked when seven planets would align. It turns out that this alignment won’t happen until 2034—another 9 years away!
Kalki 2898 AD, which features Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan in lead roles, was released in June 2024. The film reportedly grossed over Rs 1,000 crores globally, according to the makers.
The music for the film was composed by Santhosh Narayanan, and it was produced by Ashwini Dutt.
