Kamal and Dhanush enter the race – Suriya exits

Diwali may not be a big festival for movies in Telugu film industry but it is traditionally the biggest for Tamil films on par with Pongal. From decades the biggest heroes or films try to get their films released for Diwali and these resulted in huge competition every time. This year is no different.

Around summer, earlier in the year, three films starring Ajith, Vijay and Suriya were locked for Diwali release. It was touted as the mother of all clashes then. However since then lots of changes have happened. First Vijay movie was preponed and now Suriya’s movie 24 is postponed.

In their places two new films Kamal Haasan’s Thoonga Vanam (Cheekati Rajyam in Telugu) and Dhanush’s VIP 2, have locked the date. These films will now compete with Ajith starrer. In the past Ajith has emerged as winner in similar circumstances, we have to see if he can repeat the magic again.
