Telangana government seem to be getting left and right from High court these days. After the High court’s harsh words on the FAST G.O., it is the issue of vehicles re-registration in the new state. On July 17th, the state government has released a GO that all the old vehicles have to change their registration numbers from AP series to TS series. Up on PIL, the High Court had reactedly sharply over the GO and questioned the state government’s right to ask for re-registration.
“We are fine if the new vehicles are asked to register with TS series. Can you explain which clause in the constitution allows the state for re-registration of old vehicles”, questioned Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta. The Chief Justice even went to say that government can not trouble the people in long queues for their whims and fancies and asked Telangana government to be people friendly. The court has stayed the decision of vehicles re-registration even if finalized with out the permission of the court.
