KD – The Devil has released in theatres and opened to mixed reviews. The film had already faced controversy over its item song earlier. It is now back in the news for a fresh issue linked to a YouTube review.
YouTuber Suraj Kumar recently shared that he received a legal notice regarding his review of the Kannada film. The notice was sent on behalf of KVN Productions. It reportedly aimed to restrain defamatory content related to the film.
The original tweet by Suraj Kumar has now been deleted. It earlier included a screenshot of the notice sent via mail. While he did not share full details, his review video of KD – The Devil is still available on YouTube.
Many social media users criticised the move by the makers. Some recalled a similar situation during the release of Martin. At that time, reviews were taken down, and a few reviewers claimed they faced pressure over negative opinions.
The incident has sparked debate over how filmmakers handle criticism. Some users questioned whether KVN Productions is open to feedback. A section of viewers suggested that creators should accept criticism and improve their content.
Neither KVN Productions nor Dhruva Sarja has responded so far. However, some believe the reaction may be linked to negative feedback after the trailer release. Many viewers had described the trailer as loud and over the top.
The controversy has once again raised concerns about freedom of expression. Critics argue that such actions could discourage honest reviews. The situation highlights an ongoing debate about creative criticism and audience voice.
