Well-made sports drama with a known history is proving to be a major attraction for movie-goers in the Telugu film industry. In the past, Dangal and MS Dhoni saw massive success via dubbing in Telugu. It doesn’t come as a surprise, therefore, that the new Bollywood film 83 has confirmed its Telugu presence.

King Akkineni Nagarjuna has picked up the Telugu dubbing rights. He will be presenting the movie in Telugu through Annapurna Studios banner. Similarly, in Tamil, actor Kamal Haasan is doing the honours. It suggests a great interest in the project across the board.

83 aka This is 83, is a biopic on Indian cricket teams historic win in the 1983 World Cup In England. The Kapil Dev led squad beat the favourites, West Indies, as an underdog team. India became the first non–West Indies country to win the World Cup.

The victory in 83 World Cup was the greatest turning point for Cricket in India. It inspired the generations of the Indian diaspora, both in India and abroad to take cricket or show interest in sports in general.

This is 83 will have Ranveer Singh in the lead essaying the part of legend Kapil Dev. Several known faces play the rest of the team members too with acting chops. Kabir Khan of Bajarangi Bhaijaan fame directs the biopic.
