Weekend BO: No Noise, No Money

Yet another weekend has gone by for Tollywood with no moolah raked up at the box office. New release, Love Me couldn’t make much noise at the ticket counters.

The existing set run of Tollywood has continued over the last weekend as well. As it turned out, there wasn’t much use of Telugu single screens opening up again after a 10-day gap.

A substantial reason for this vacuum is the lack of big hero films in the recent past.

Had a big superstar film released in the recent past, the audience would’ve cherished coming back to theaters again. But with that not happening, other small films are falling in the black holes due to the existing vacuum.

It is high time that a biggie like Kalki hits the theaters and reintroduces the cinema going culture in Tollywood. This is pretty much the need of the hour.

Kalki is set for release on the 27th of June and if this film brings back the audience to theaters in big numbers, we could start to see a gradual influx in the number of cinema goers in general as well.
