Mahavatar Narsimha Produced by Kleem, Not Hombale
While big-ticket sequels like Saiyaara, Son of Sardaar 2, and Dhadak 2 dominate headlines, Mahavatar Narsimha quietly crossed a surprising ₹99.5 crore in just 12 days, becoming one of India’s highest-grossing animated films.
What’s even more surprising? Most people think it was made by Hombale Films — the studio behind KGF and Kantara. But that’s not true.
The film was produced by Kleem Productions and the APAR Group, with Hombale merely presenting it in Karnataka. Yet due to Hombale’s brand visibility, the credit seems to be shifting away from the original creators.
Director Ashwin Kumar revealed that he risked everything financially to complete this passion project. Hombale came on board only after seeing the final version and acquiring distribution rights.
However, reports suggest Hombale is now planning to invest in this animated universe for the next 10 years. While that’s a huge step for Indian animation, fans feel the true credit should go to the creators who believed in the project from the start.
This incident highlights a growing concern in Indian cinema: smaller creators being overshadowed by big production houses. While attaching a famous name boosts reach, it often results in original teams being ignored.
If Hombale does eventually co-produce sequels or spinoffs, audiences hope the creators — like Ashwin Kumar and Kleem Productions — get the recognition they deserve.
