Mani Ratnam gets interim stay on Google

Piracy menace is eating away the revenues of many films big time and it is seriously posing a problem for the film makers. Including Google, 13 other intermediaries got an order from Madras High Court to block all the URLs carrying any image of Mani Ratnam’s recently released film ‘Ok Kadhal Kanmani’.

Mani Ratnam has moved the Madras High Court by filing a civil suit on piracy of his film via 14 intermediaries including google. The film was subjected to piracy in various ways like pirated DVD’s, CD’s and many other forms it’s possible through internet and telecom services. Hence Mani got an interim stay on the intermediaries aka Airtel, Aircel, google and others.

‘Ok Kadhak Kanmani’ is produced under Madras Talkies in which Mani and Suhasini are partners. While the film is extremely doing well and the film maker is back on track after a low phase, this piracy is causing a lot of concern for the film maker as he is also a partner of the banner under which the film has been produced.
