Masss poor buzz due to director?

Suriya is undoubtedly a big and noticeable star in Telugu cinema along with Tamil but the major difference is that unlike in Tamil cinema where he could carry even average movies, he cannot do so here. The films have to be really good to make an impact or come with some unusual concept in great combination to excite the Telugu audience.

Why we say all this is because if one looks at the advance booking of his new film Rakshasudu that releases tomorrow, we can see how the above said factors are coming at play here. A relatively unknown director and poor audio has meant that the film is struggling to have good advance booking.

Now let’s look at the film and see if the content could come to the star’s rescue. Over the past few years the genre of horror comedy has worked really well at the box office. From Premakatha Chithram to Geethanjali to very recent Ganga, all these films have worked. Even a low budget film in this genre like Boochamma Boochadu too has seen good appreciation from audience.

So if Rakshasudu manages to provide the chills through its content, it could certainly help the film go a long way even though the openings may be week. Will the horror comedy trend come to Suriya’s rescue in Telugu?
