After the massive success of HanuMan, Teja Sajja returns to the superhero genre with Mirai, directed by Karthik Ghattamaneni. This high-concept film combines mythology and modern storytelling, supported by cutting-edge VFX to build a unique cinematic universe.
The story centres around a divine weapon that awakens only when destiny calls. Teja Sajja plays a reluctant hero who must accept his fate and wield this weapon to protect humanity from rising evil forces. His transformation from an ordinary man to the chosen saviour forms the emotional core of the film.
Mirai boasts a powerful cast. Shriya Saran, Jayaram, and Jagapathi Babu bring depth to key roles, while Manchu Manoj marks a striking comeback as a formidable villain. His face-off with Sajja adds intensity to the narrative.
Released in theatres on 12th September, Mirai hit screens in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. Strong word-of-mouth is helping the film achieve excellent box office numbers. With ₹24 crore gross on day one, the film is on track to become a massive blockbuster.
Analysts believe Mirai is a sureshot ₹100 crore grosser. It is witnessing big jumps in collections over its second and third days. If the Hindi version picks up further, crossing ₹200 crore or even ₹300 crore is possible.
When Will Mirai Release on OTT?
According to OTT sources, Mirai’s digital rights have been acquired by JioHotstar. Unlike most Telugu films that stream within four weeks, Mirai will have an extended eight-week exclusive theatrical run.
It is expected to stream on JioHotstar from around 7th November. This longer theatrical window reflects the makers’ strong belief in the film’s success and gives it more time to shine at the box office before arriving online.
