Modi Hijacks Selfie with daughter idea

Prime Minister Narendra Modi seems to be a remarkable man with lots of innovative ideas. However, his recent campaign known as #SelfiewithDaughter leaves a bad taste in our mouths. There is nothing wrong with the campaign on its own, in fact the idea of taking selfies with daughters inspires people to cherish and celebrate their existence.

The problem is with the origin of this idea. Originally started in Haryana by a gram panchayat in Bibipur village, this campaign requested the parents to send in selfies with their daughters as part of a contest. Although it received many entries, the movement didn’t get widespread recognition. However, when Modi spoke of it in a session of Man ki baat, people took notice and the trend went viral.

Of course there is nothing wrong with using and promoting good ideas when it is done the right way. Disappointingly, in this case, credit was never given to the people who came up with this idea.
