Will US BO Be Deciding Factor For Akhil, Hereafter?

The weekend box office figures of Akhil’s Most Eligible Bachelor are out. It has collected close to $450 K and has entered the profit zone. It is the only third film this year from Telugu that has earned profits or entered into breakeven zone for distributors. Incidentally, two of them are Akkineni movies. Love Story didn’t earn any profits but touched the breakeven number in the U.S. despite all positive reviews.

Most Eligible Bachelor needed to do approximately $400 K to break even. It has gone past it comfortably by the end of the opening weekend. The weekday’s performance will decide where it will finally end.

The only other film which got profits for distributors this year is Jathi Ratnalu. It makes their run special under these turbulent times in the US market for Telugu films.

For Akhil Akkineni, it is a double delight. The actor has now two films in his kitty that are profitable in the US. His first success was Vikram Kumar directed Hello, which collected a million.

Despite Akhil movies are not performing up to the mark in Telugu states, he would be happy to know that he has a decent US market or the movies he chose appeal more to the overseas audience. It could be a deciding factor for his film choices in the future.
