Actor Nikhil Siddhartha did not become a star overnight. Film by film, he slowly built his own space in the industry. The real turning point came with Karthikeya 2. The film became a surprise success on pan India level and expanded his reach beyond Telugu. Producers began to see him as a bankable lead who could carry a film across markets with limited budget and good content.
Now, his upcoming film Swayambhu is reportedly being made on a budget of nearly Rs. 80 crores. For a hero like Nikhil, that is a big jump and naturally comes with pressure. In today’s market, OTT platforms are very careful. They no longer buy streaming rights blindly. They prefer to watch the completed film first, especially checking the VFX quality, before closing any deal.
Until recently, there were reports that Swayambhu had not locked its OTT deal. But now, the latest talk in industry circles is more positive. It is said that three OTT platforms are competing for the rights, and the deal may be finalized soon. If this is true, it will be a big relief for the producers.
The teaser has also created decent interest. If the OTT deal recovers at least half of the budget, the rest can come from theatres. Trade experts believe the film would then need around Rs. 40 to 45 crores in distributor share to break even. It is a challenging target, but not impossible if the film connects with audiences.
The team is planning to complete the first copy by March and release the film in April.
