No One Million Dollar Film for Tollywood in 2019

2019 is nearing an end and it is turning out to be a disappointment to Tollywood makers and US Trade. The year did not register a single One Million Dollar Premiere. We are almost nearing the end of the year and there are no big films which mean One Million Dollar Premiere is ruled out.

Maharshi, Saaho and Sye Raa are the only films that had a chance but all of them could not get there. Maharshi was confined only to half a million dollar premiere. Saaho came very close by collecting more than $900K but missed the coveted club in the end.

With Premieres on Tuesday, Sye Raa had good chances to get there with the advantage of deals. But the movie has confined itself with $800K+ only. What is sad is that Saaho and Sye Raa lost the chance due to the poor release planning of the distributors.

Most films coming on Amazon Prime Video in four weeks of the movie release also had a telling effect on the US movie collections. That has also impacted the collections of the movies there. Let us see if 2020 will be any different.
