On RGV’s lines : Movie faces tagline issue

While Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Raktha Charitra Trailer’s tagline ‘revenge is the purest emotion’ passed through CBFC censoring before its release, a Tamil film ‘Urumeen’ with a similar tagline is causing hurdles for it’s trailer’s certification. The tagline goes ‘revenge is always ultimate’.

Directed by first timer Saktivel Perumalsamy, ‘Urumeen’ is said to be a revenge drama and thus the director says that he would showcase the tagline in the end credits only for a few seconds. But the Censor Board didn’t certify the trailer even though the film maker came up with multiple options like muting the audio or blurring the visuals etc.

Perumalsamy is miffed with CBFC and wants to approach the revising committee because if the tagline is removed he had to work again on the trailer for which he took about a month. Cutting trailers is no easy job these days. Film makers are giving considerable time for making trailers which would actually become a film’s biggest promotional material.
