Parasakthi BO: Biggest Disaster for Sivakarthikeyan?

Parasakthi, starring Sivakarthikeyan and directed by Sudha Kongara, released in theatres on January 10th. The film has received mixed reactions from audiences and critics.

While the performances of Sivakarthikeyan, Jayam Ravi, and Sreeleela have been appreciated, viewers have raised concerns about the screenplay. Many feel the slow pace has affected the overall impact.

Despite this, Parasakthi opened on a decent note at the box office. The film reportedly collected around 27 crores worldwide on Day 1.

However, negative word of mouth began spreading soon after release. This has affected footfalls, especially in B and C centres, where the film is now heading towards a washout status.

Reports suggest that occupancy has dropped sharply across several centres in Tamil Nadu. If the trend continues, the film could end up as a major box office disaster.

Parasakthi was reportedly made on a budget of around 150 crores, including actor remunerations. With current trends, the film may finish its theatrical run at around 80 crores.

This would result in heavy losses for the producers, according to Kollywood trackers. The poor performance has also triggered discussions around Sivakarthikeyan’s market value.

His earlier film Amaran collected over 350 crores worldwide. That success led many to believe Sivakarthikeyan had entered the big league.

However, following Amaran, his last two films Madharaasi and Parasakthi have delivered below average results. Both films failed to meet expectations at the box office.

As a result, social media users are questioning whether Amaran was a one-time success. Some are now stating that Sivakarthikeyan still belongs to the Tier-2 bracket.

Many feel the actor needs to be more selective with scripts. Back-to-back failures are seen as a major factor affecting his market value.

That said, the final outcome is yet to be decided. It remains to be seen whether Parasakthi can recover in the coming days and at least reach the break-even mark.
