OG Release Date: Bad Timing, Distraction for HHVM?

Pawan Kalyan is back on set and resuming work on his pending film commitments. Among the most anticipated is his upcoming action thriller OG, directed by Sujeeth of Saaho fame.

Produced by DVV Entertainment, the film now has an official release date. The makers took to social media to announce that OG will hit theatres worldwide on September 25, 2025, in multiple languages.

The film features Pawan Kalyan as Ojas Gambheera, a feared don who resurfaces in Mumbai after a ten-year absence to take down a rival crime boss, Omi Bhau, played by Emraan Hashmi.

With a stylish, action-heavy setup and an ensemble cast, the movie is expected to be a big-ticket entertainer. Thaman is composing the music, adding to the hype.

However, the timing of this release date announcement has stirred mixed reactions among fans and observers. While OG has been carrying massive buzz since its first glimpse, many feel the announcement could have waited.

That’s because Pawan Kalyan’s much-delayed period action film Hari Hara Veera Mallu is gearing up for release on June 12. The project has faced several delays, director changes, and production hurdles, resulting in a lack of buzz despite the star’s presence.

Supporters of Pawan Kalyan are currently focused on promoting Hari Hara Veera Mallu, trying to build momentum for its box office opening.

In such a context, announcing OG’s release date just 18 days before HHVM hits screens is being seen as a distraction.

Some fans argue that the attention has prematurely shifted to OG, which doesn’t need a push at this point, and that this could dent the opening potential of Hari Hara Veera Mallu.
