The Asia Cup tournament has now entered the super four stage with the top teams advancing. India and Pakistan have already qualified and are set to clash again on September 21, drawing huge attention from cricket fans.
Meanwhile, Pawan Kalyan’s much-awaited film OG is gearing up for its theatrical release on September 25. Interestingly, India will also play knockout matches in the Asia Cup on September 24 and 26, right before and after OG hits theatres.
Normally, such scheduling during a major ICC tournament could affect box office revenues, as evening shows might see a drop when India is playing. But this situation is different due to the mixed response to the Asia Cup.
Many Indian fans have shown little interest in the tournament, with some even calling for a boycott to avoid Pakistan matches. This makes it unlikely that the cricket fixtures will seriously impact the release of OG.
While India’s knockout matches are scheduled close to OG’s release date, the buzz around the film remains extremely high. With strong hype and stylish action promised, OG is expected to dominate despite the cricket schedule.
