Peddi: OTT Popularity Turning into a Huge Advantage?

Mirzapur was not just a massive success in Hindi markets. The crime drama also built a surprisingly huge fanbase among Telugu audiences through its dubbed version. One of the biggest reasons behind that popularity was Divyenndu Sharma’s explosive performance as Munna Bhaiya.

The character became hugely popular among Gen Z viewers because of his unpredictable attitude, colorful slang, aggressive screen presence, and brutally entertaining abuses. Interestingly, the Telugu dubbed version also connected extremely well with audiences. Many viewers even felt the dubbing captured the raw energy and attitude of Munna Bhaiya perfectly.

Popular dubbing artist Balu, the same voice actor who dubbed Munna Bhaiya in the Telugu version of Mirzapur, has reportedly once again lent his voice to Divyenndu Sharma in Peddi.

The decision has received a very positive response online because many Telugu viewers strongly associate Balu’s voice with Divyenndu’s screen personality. Fans feel retaining the same voice will automatically help audiences connect more naturally with his character in Peddi as well.

In the film, Divyenndu Sharma is reportedly playing a key role named Ram Bujji. Since the actor already enjoys strong recognition among younger Telugu audiences because of Mirzapur, many believe this familiarity could work as an additional advantage for the film.
