What Was Prabhas Doing Without Rajamouli?

Prabhas is one of the biggest names in Indian cinema, and your expectations rise each time he signs a film. That is why his decision to do Adipurush felt like a huge gamble. The film turned into one of the biggest setbacks of his career.

Adipurush is widely seen as a poor adaptation of the Hindu epic Ramayan. The failure hit Prabhas hard because he was the one who initiated the project. Later, director Om Raut faced the lion’s share of trolling, but the damage had already begun.

Many still wonder why Prabhas chose such a massive subject without the presence of Rajamouli, who shaped his biggest successes. Rajamouli’s clarity, scale, and execution are unmatched, especially with stories rooted in mythology or larger-than-life themes.

Some people even say Prabhas should have approached Rajamouli for guidance before taking up Adipurush. The film turned into a nightmare, and the outcome only strengthened those opinions. The gap between expectation and execution became too wide to overlook.

If Prabhas wanted to work on a mythological subject like Ramayan, Rajamouli was the safest and strongest option. Working with other filmmakers on such a delicate subject carried a huge risk. That risk backfired, and Prabhas paid the price.

After watching the brief Varanasi video that Rajamouli created around Ramayan, people felt the difference even more. They now question how Prabhas, who had direct access to Rajamouli, chose to experiment with others for such an iconic story.
