Where Has This Prabhas Gone?

Prabhas Baahubali Spark

Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Epic an edited single film combining both parts of the Baahubali series is having its premieres. Not only are the shows registering housefuls and drawing surprising crowds, but the film also reminds us of one crucial aspect: Prabhas, the actor behind Amarendra Baahubali.

While watching the film, you can’t help but notice the energy and involvement Prabhas brought to this role. He looks fit, active and deeply invested, something that feels missing big time in his recent films like Kalki 2898 AD. The difference is striking. In Baahubali: The Epic, you see a lively commanding Prabhas who owns every frame, while in recent years, that spark seems to have faded.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that Prabhas is the only actor in India who can truly pull off such larger-than-life roles, given his height and physique. There’s simply no second choice. But somewhere along the way he seems to have lost that passion and involvement. Even though his films continue to make big money, we can sense the growing lack of energy and presence on screen.

That’s something an actor like Prabhas cannot afford to compromise on, and fortunately it’s something he can easily bring back. Hopefully, Baahubali: The Epic reignites that spark in him, and we get to see a more active, enthusiastic, and powerful version of Prabhas in his upcoming films. Because it would be a shame if an actor capable of creating roles like Amarendra Baahubali let that magic fade away.
