Usually, when a superstar completes a film, the focus stays firmly on its release before moving to the next project. Chiranjeevi recently broke this norm. He chose to delay a completed film and prioritised another project instead.
Despite finishing the shooting and production of Vishwambhara, Chiranjeevi decided to keep it on hold. He moved ahead with a film directed by Anil Ravipudi. Interestingly, this project released first despite starting later.
The decision was driven by the need for a strong commercial success at the box office. Chiranjeevi felt Anil Ravipudi could deliver that momentum. The gamble paid off as MSG became the biggest hit of his career and an industry hit in the regional market.
It now appears that Prabhas is quietly following a similar strategy. He seems to be rearranging his release priorities to regain box office strength. The approach mirrors Chiranjeevi’s calculated move.
Prabhas had begun shooting for Fauzi well before starting work on Spirit. Logically, the Hanu Raghavapudi film should have released first. Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy, was expected to follow later.
However, Prabhas has chosen to prioritise Spirit. The makers have already confirmed a March release next year. This indicates a clear shift in strategy.
The move could be aimed at recovering from the setback caused by Raja Saab. Prabhas may be trusting Sandeep Reddy to revive his image globally. Complaints about body doubles, looks, and execution hurt the earlier film.
Much like Chiranjeevi sidelined Vishwambhara for MSG, Prabhas seems to be pushing Fauzi back. Spirit is being treated as his trump card. The pressure is now on Sandeep to deliver a strong comeback.
