Prabhas-Hanu: 1000 Cr Possible?

Prabhas has taken another project onto the floors today as he launched the film with Hanu Raghavapudi today. The film had a lavish launch ceremony and this marks the commencement of this project.

For starters, this is the first superstar film of Hanu Raghavapudi and the stakes will be particularly high for him this time around. While there have complaints about over-budgeting for his films, he will have no issue on this front as he has Prabhas headlining the film.

However, upscaling his filmmaking and rightly capturing the larger-than-life aura of Prabhas is going to be the key for the talented director this time. He will have to completely let go of the “second half syndrome” this time as well, like how he did for Seetha Ramam.

This brings us to the age-old question – can this project really be a Rs 1000 crore contender?

Well, going by the buzz on social media, this is a love drama with a war backdrop. In that case, it could be on the lines of Seetha Ramam, but with a much bigger canvas.

If we use Seetha Ramam as a yardstick, this film didn’t fare as well as it was bound to as it ended up with sub-10 crore nett in the Hindi belt. With Prabhas, the numbers will be bigger but winning promotional material is needed.

Even for Prabhas, love genre hadn’t worked in Hindi as was seen in the case of Radhe Shyam. So Hanu will have to come up with something much more than love drama for the film to have a good run in the important Hindi belt.

For now, it is too early to talk about the 1000 crore prospect of Prabhas-Hanu film and we have to wait till the promotional content starts to come out before we make any further assessments.
