Working with other language directors is always risky for superstars as there is always the risk of these directors not fully understanding the dynamics of Tollywood and getting sidetracked. On this front, Prabhas is much luckier when compared to Ram Charan.
Prabhas worked with Kannada-based Prashanth Neel for Salaar and the project was completed and executed on time, albeit with a minor logistical delay which is common for a big hero film. At the end of the day, Salaar is a box office winner and delivered a reprieve to Prabhas when he needed it the most.
But as for Charan, he is literally suffering in the grasp of Shankar. This Game Changer film is in the making since forever and it is getting dragged on and on even after all these years.
Shankar got sidetracked with Indian 2 and this meant that Game Changer took a back seat. This isn’t a situation that any Tollywood star experiences as no director here indulges in another film while working on one already. But Shankar, being a Tamil director prioritized Indian 2, to the point that Kamal Haasan resumed the filming, wrapped it up, and moved on to his next film with Mani Ratnam, while Charan is still stuck with this project.
Mega fans have gotten to a point where they are not even bothered about the result of Game Changer and just want their hero to be done with it at the earliest. It has been nearly two years since RRR released and Game Changer is still in an uncertain phase.
Well, even Charan’s RRR co-star NTR didn’t have a release since RRR but at least Devara’s shooting is progressing at a decent pace. There might be a postponement of the announced release date but fans at least know what is happening with the project. That is lacking in Charan’s case.
As far as working with other language directors go, Prabhas got lucky with Neel while Charan is suffering with Shankar.
