BO: Silent Start, Big Jump

Tollywood had three new theatrical outings last weekend and they are Gaami, Bhimaa and Premalu. Now the discussion is about the Telugu dubbed Mallu film Premalu which started off silently and has picked up big time.

When it comes to Book My Show hourly booking states, Premalu is marginally beating Gaami and comfortably ahead of Bhimaa. The positive word of mouth and youth content have worked for the film.

Premalu was rather low-lying at the Tollywood box office for the first two days as Vishwak Sen’s Gaami posted very good numbers in the opening weekend. But once the weekdays started, Premalu started to pick up and it is now starting to trend above Gaami and Bhimaa.

A Malayalam film beating two straight Telugu releases doesn’t happen very often and Premalu is enjoying this substantial success at the Tollywood box office now.

Gaami is already in the safe zone and has yielded minor profits to the buyers. Bhimaa has expectedly disappeared at the box office. Premalu, which started silently has shown a sizeable jump and could yield profits for Rajamouli’s son Karthikeya who released it in Telugu.
