In Chandee, Priyamani plays the fourth generation daughter of Alluri Seetharamaraju and she stands up against all the evil activities in the society. According to director Samudra, she is modern-day Alluri in the film. Priyamani fights against government lands and SEZ’s, which are sanctioned but never used by public.
He says the film has a very 21st century outlook laced with philosophies of Alluri Seetharamaraju. Samudra is all praises for Priyamani, and adds that the role was originally written for Anushka. However, he is extremely happy with Priya and her performance because she has surpassed their expectations on several occasions throughout the film.
