Pushpa 2 set a high bar for North America break-even, being the second most hyped sequel in Indian cinema after Baahubali 2.
The premiere and day one total is $4,469,976. While it seems like a big number, it is still below the recent big film Kalki 2898 AD, which collected $5.5 million in comparison.
However, Friday trends look strong, and the most positive sign is that Hindi audiences are showing up in big numbers based on the trend.
As of around 9 PM EST on Saturday, Pushpa 2 is already surpassed $1 million ($1,228,375 , with good news: 50% of the hourly numbers are coming from the Hindi version of Pushpa 2.
If the Hindi version performs well, there will be no stopping the film in North America. Given the current hourly trends, Pushpa 2’s Hindi version has gained momentum and will likely continue for several weeks.
Hindi films typically have longer runs, while Telugu films usually conclude in 2-3 weeks.
Based on today’s performance, we can predict the Hindi version alone will gross $700K+, which is excellent.
