Pushpa 2: Sukumar is Extremely Hurt

The film’s director, Sukumar has recently come in the open that he is badly pained to hear criticism to his movie Pushpa 2; especially the words that he’s making a smuggler as the hero of a film.

According to many critics, the protagonist in the movie Allu Arjun makes the wrong statement about criminality and morality.

Critic’s say that showing a hero as a smuggler of sandalwood might lead to the promotion and changing of societal values in the wrong direction.

He said he had always denied all those allegations and insisted that his films are made only to entertain and never endorse criminal activities.

Sukumar gets highly disturbed whenever he finds his work being labeled as “anti-national,” that means his work provokes the youth to involve themselves in illicit activities.

He said, “Calling my film anti-national or accusing it of provoking youth is the most troubling statement one can make about me”.

In fact, he believes cinema should be spared from such issues and give respite to the audience.

Secondly, the treatment of female characters in Pushpa: Part One has been severely criticized. Many believe this does not suit the female characters.

Even a song called “Peelings” in the movie is said to be full of obscene language and thus the whole debate goes on in public and media whether the film had good morality or not.

Against this backdrop, Sukumar’s emotional response has underlined the larger conflict between creative expression and social responsibility in filmmaking.

Whereas a filmmaker defends his artistic vision, many feel filmmakers have a duty to consider what messages their work conveys to audiences.
