Raaka's Motion Capture Plans Revealed
Director Atlee is planning to create a completely new world for his next film, Raaka, starring Allu Arjun. Stunt choreographer Anl Arasu has now revealed interesting details about the film, suggesting that it will be much more than a regular action drama.
Speaking in an interview, Anl Arasu said Raaka is a world imagined by Atlee, featuring unusual characters that even the team has never worked with before. He also revealed that some characters will have extra powers, hinting at a fantasy element in the film.
The stunt choreographer also spoke about the extensive use of motion-capture technology. He said the team used motion capture for body doubles in Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, but Raaka involves the highest use of mocap technology in his experience.
Anl Arasu added that revealing why the team used the technology on such a massive scale now could spoil the film. Audiences will understand the reason only after watching it in theatres.
His comments have raised curiosity about the kind of world Atlee is creating for Raaka. The use of motion capture on such a large scale, combined with characters possessing special powers, suggests that the film could explore a different visual style and storytelling approach.
Produced by Sun Pictures, Raaka brings Allu Arjun and Atlee together for a massive pan-India project. Deepika Padukone plays the female lead, while Sai Abhyankkar is composing the music. The film is scheduled to release in late 2027 or early 2028.
