Allu Arjun is trying every possible way to stay in the pan-India limelight. Despite delivering an all-time blockbuster like Pushpa 2, the film, many feel, has not aged well and lacks the shelf life of some other blockbusters.
Now, Allu Arjun has Raaka, a massive Atlee film reportedly being made on a budget of at least Rs. 800 crores. The project has huge expectations, but it is also a risky bet. If the content fails to connect with audiences, the film could turn into a costly disappointment. At this point, even fans have doubts about how this project will shape up.
Then comes AA23, his film with Lokesh Kanagaraj, which has good hype. But the director is facing questions following underwhelming films like Leo and Coolie. Reports suggest Allu Arjun is not entirely happy with the script, particularly the second half, and has given Lokesh three months to rework it while he completes Raaka. If the revised script fails to satisfy him, Allu Arjun could explore other options.
On paper, Allu Arjun‘s lineup looks massive. But big directors, huge budgets and pan-India ambitions do not guarantee success. Everything depends on the script, execution and audience response.
Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor and Yash remain serious names in the pan-India race, while Ranveer Singh could also emerge as a strong contender with the right projects. All three have the potential to challenge Allu Arjun’s position if their upcoming films deliver.
Prabhas is still a massive box-office star who can guarantee huge openings, but when it comes to performance, he is nowhere near Allu Arjun, Ranbir Kapoor or Ranveer Singh. Prabhas’ films depend heavily on hero elevations, larger-than-life action scenes and his screen presence rather than performances that carry the entire film. Whatever the reasons, his recent performances have failed to deliver the kind of impact that can lift a film beyond its scale and spectacle. At this point, Prabhas is more of an opening-day star than an actor who can single-handedly make audiences connect with a film through his performance.
Ultimately, Allu Arjun has reached a stage where maintaining his position is as important as achieving bigger numbers. His next few choices will determine whether he strengthens his pan-India dominance or struggles under the weight of expectations.
