5 Yrs For 1 Film: Will Rajamouli Kill His Dream!

The kind of extensive production activities that happen with Rajamouli’s films are far superior to any other Indian film maker. The kind of visual experience that he can create with his films usually require extensive production scale.

Now we have Rajamouli arriving with Varanasi, which happens to be another ambitious attempt, and he has spent a significant amount of time on this project.

The shooting itself might not have been as elongated as Rajamouli usually does, as it is nearly 30% more efficient than RRR in terms of shooting days. But nevertheless, there is a fundamental timeline that must be kept in mind here.

Rajamouli had earlier released RRR in 2022 and his next film Varanasi is only going to release in 2027, which means that there is a good five years gap between two films. For the entire decade(2020-2030), Rajamouli will have only two releases.

If this is the kind of timeline that Rajamouli is maintaining with regard to his normal scale films, then one can only wonder what would be the case with his dream project of Mahabharat.

Mahabharat requires even more significant pre production process, and the shooting is also going to take a lot more time. So we cannot even put a finger on the possible timeline of this film as it could take many years.

On top of that, Rajamouli has confirmed that he wishes to make Mahabharat in multiple parts in order to cover the entire stretch of story, which would mean that the entire set of films could take even decades.

At this point in time, keeping actors occupied on a single set of films for years or decades is a task much tougher said than done. It is hard to predict if Rajamouli would actually go ahead with this plan, considering the kind of complications associated.

If Rajamouli is taking five years to execute a normal project, then one can only wonder what would be the timeline for his dream project of Mahabharat. People are already starting to speculate if this is beyond the reach of Rajamouli already.
