Rajinikanth’s Dharman: The Disaster Fear After Jailer 2?

Dharman faces Vettaiyan comparisons now

Following the terrible failure of Coolie, Rajinikanth made a comeback with his most anticipated sequel Jailer 2 directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, which was released in theatres on October 15th.

Despite mixed reviews from critics, the mass moments and Nelson Dilipkumar’s humour portions in Jailer 2 connected well with the general audience. Consequently, the film is on a rampage at the box office and is all set to emerge as the new industry hit of Kollywood.

After the massive success of Jailer 2, all eyes are now on Rajinikanth’s next film Dharman directed by Ashwath Marimuthu. Many Kollywood audiences feel that Jailer 2’s huge success will put a lot of pressure on Ashwath Marimuthu, and they suggest that Dharman should not end up like Vettaiyan.

This is because they note that after the massive success of Jailer, Rajinikanth’s immediate release was Vettaiyan. Although Vettaiyan was also made with a stellar star cast from different industries, it was slightly away from Rajinikanth‘s usual mass commercial films.

Therefore, pointing to Dharman, which is also slightly away from Rajinikanth’s usual mass masala films, featuring Rajinikanth in the role of a doctor, they fear that Dharman will also end up as another Vettaiyan.

So, they are asking Ashwath Marimuthu to shape the film well with solid characterization for Rajinikanth and also motivate him to deliver a proper commercial entertainer.

Meanwhile, there are reports that Ashwath Marimuthu is planning to cast actress Nayanthara in a crucial role in Dharman. If this speculation proves true, alongside Simran, Raashii Khanna and Sreeleela, there will be four lead actresses in the film.

Furthermore, reports suggest that the characters of all the female leads will be unique and their character dynamics will be the major highlight of Dharman.

However, it remains to be seen how Dharman takes shape, whether Ashwath Marimuthu will satisfy the expectations of the audiences and if Dharman will emerge as a blockbuster success, giving Rajinikanth back to back hits upon its release.
