KH×RK Rs. 800 Crore Budget Debate
After the massive success of Jailer 2, all eyes are now on Nelson Dilipkumar’s next film KH×RK, which marks the reunion of Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth after a long time.
Since the announcement, KH×RK has carried huge expectations among audiences. But as of now, there is still no clarity regarding when the shooting of the film is going to begin and with what budget the project is going to be mounted.
While earlier speculations suggested that the shooting of KH×RK would begin by December and Sun Pictures might take over the project from Red Giant Movies, it seems that Red Giant Movies is not leaving the project and is planning to mount KH×RK as the costliest film in the Kollywood industry.
According to recent reports, Red Giant Movies is planning to mount the KH×RK project with a budget of around 800 crores, with Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan said to be receiving 200 crores each as their remuneration.
Furthermore, Nelson Dilipkumar, who received 60 crores as salary for Jailer 2, has now increased his remuneration because of the massive success of Jailer 2 and is reportedly going to get a 100-crore salary for the KH×RK project. The remaining 300 crores will cover the production costs of the film and the salaries of the other actors who are part of the project.
Red Giant Movies has already started its pre-production work for this film. Meanwhile, Nelson Dilipkumar is in the final leg of scripting and the shooting of this film will most probably begin by April or May of 2027.
In response to these speculations, some people feel that paying 200 crores to Rajinikanth is acceptable, but for Kamal Haasan it is too much. They suggest that Rajinikanth has at least delivered many industry hits and even Jailer 2 collected more than 700 crores, whereas other than Vikram, Kamal Haasan does not even have a 200-crore grosser.
Therefore, they feel that paying an equal salary to Kamal Haasan is logically not right and instead, the production house should use those funds for production expenses.
At the same time, some people suggest that instead of taking a massive remuneration and increasing the budget to 800 crores, both superstars should act on a profit-sharing basis. They argue that in case the film ends up as a disappointment, it will result in a huge loss for the production house.
Ultimately, all of these are just social media speculations and there are still no official updates regarding the budget of the KH×RK project. It remains to be seen how the KH×RK project will take shape and whether it emerges as the new industry hit of Kollywood upon its release.
