Peddi and Paradise: When Heroes Deliver But Directors Fail

Two of the most ambitious films from Telugu cinema in recent times were Peddi and The Paradise. Both films had their theatrical releases earlier this year, but neither managed to achieve the expected success.

First, let us discuss Peddi. This Ram Charan film carried huge expectations as the actor had to build on the popularity he gained through RRR while also move beyond the setback of Game Changer.

A lot depended on Buchi Babu, who was expected to deliver a compelling rural drama with a strong narrative. However, the film turned out to be a major disappointment despite Ram Charan’s extensive hard work. Adding to the discussion is the ongoing controversy surrounding Janhvi Kapoor and concerns about her portrayal in the film.

Then comes The Paradise, which marks the collaboration between Nani and Srikanth after the blockbuster Dasara. The film was one of the most eagerly anticipated projects in recent times, raising expectations among audiences.

However, things went horribly wrong for this film as well. Nani’s extensive efforts, including his body transformation and nearly one-and-a-half-year commitment to the shoot, failed to deliver the expected results.

The film is now facing severe criticism on social media following its OTT debut. It has become one of the most trolled Telugu films in recent years in the OTT space. Several scenes featuring Nani are being widely circulated and mocked online.

Nani, who is generally very calculated about his film choices, appears to have made a major miscalculation with this project and is now facing the backlash. For someone who has maintained remarkable consistency over the years, facing such criticism over a single failure is certainly unfortunate.

In both cases, the heroes, Ram Charan and Nani, put in their best efforts, but the directors failed to deliver the expected results. Their performances and dedication could not compensate for the shortcomings in the films’ execution.
