Ram Charan fans may have to wait a little longer for the launch of his next film with Sukumar. The pooja ceremony, which was expected to take place tomorrow, is reportedly canceled. Now the makers are looking for an auspicious date after October 25. An official announcement is still awaited.
Anirudh is reportedly in talks to compose the music, while Sara Arjun and Preity Mukundhan are said to be the frontrunners for the female lead. Mythri Movie Makers is producing the film, tentatively titled RC17.
However, the real concern is whether Sukumar can finish the film without taking years to complete it.
Pushpa took a long time to make, and Charan cannot afford another lengthy production. After RRR, Game Changer consumed nearly two years of his prime career, while Peddi also took close to two years. Both films did not help Ram Charan‘s career as an actor or star. He can’t afford to waste his time once again on a film that gives no boost to his career.
Sukumar is reportedly planning to follow a Rangasthalam-style working model instead of stretching the shoot for years. The script is said to be locked, and the director is reportedly working out the details before taking the film to the sets.
The team is said to be targeting a 12-month shooting schedule. That is an ambitious plan for a director known for spending considerable time perfecting his films.
If Sukumar sticks to the schedule, RC17 could be ready for a Sankranthi 2028 release. But given his track record, fans will need more than a planned timeline to believe it.
For Charan, the priority is clear: deliver a strong film without losing another two or three years in the process.
