Unlike Dhanush, Ram Charan’s highly anticipated Bollywood debut Zanjeer seems to have not worked in his favour. Neither did the film impress critics and audiences alike nor managed to strike gold at the box-office.
The film was touted to be made on a very big budget, but it didn’t even manage to collect 10 percent of its budget on opening day. One of the main reasons why the film didn’t work is because of the lead pair. There were complaints that the chemistry between Ram and Priyanka didn’t work at all.
Even the roles essayed by Mahie Gill and Prakash Raj were not received well by the audiences. Critics have panned the film as a flop even though the Telugu version managed to have a decent opening with an nationwide collection of nearly INR 9 cr on release day.
