Ramayana has received a Big boost ahead of its theatrical release. As per the latest update, the West Bengal Government announced tax-free status for the film, adding to the buzz around the film, which is set to release worldwide on November 5.
The move could make ticket prices more affordable for audiences in the state, especially families who are planning to watch the film in theatres. For a film mounted on such a large scale, a tax exemption could also help attract more viewers.
Now, the big question is whether other states will follow West Bengal’s lead. Given the film’s mythological subject and the scale of its release, similar announcements could give it another push. However, there has been no official confirmation of tax exemptions from other states so far.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The film is planned as a two-part saga, with the first part arriving in theatres on November 5.
With the release just around the corner, all eyes are now on whether any other state governments will make a similar announcement.
